Earlier this week, the Senate Higher Education Committee held a hearing on S.B. 68 and reported it out on party lines with the next stop being Senate Judiciary (no date yet). The companion bill in the House will next be heard in the Higher Education/Workforce Subcommittee (no date yet)

SB 68 (and its House companion – HB 4001) will force Florida’s public colleges and universities to allow the carrying of loaded, concealed handguns anywhere on campus.  This legislation poses a significant public safety risk to Florida’s campus communities AND fail to address the inevitable and substantial economic impact on tuition fees and other costs should this wrongheaded policy be implemented.

There is a lot at stake, but with your help we can defeat these bills as we have before.
